The Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes) Act 2024 introduces new functions into the Fair Work Act 2009 relating to road transport which include:

·         the creation of a Road Transport Expert Panel and Road Transport Advisory Group.

·         a new ability for the Fair Work Commission to make road transport minimum standards orders similar to the ‘employee-like’ minimum standards orders which have also been introduced.

·         a new ability for the Fair Work Commission to ratify Road Transport collective agreements.

·         a new ability for the Fair Work Commission to arbitrate unfair terminations for Road Transport regulated workers.

·         the new power for the Minister to introduce laws regulating the ‘road transport industry contract chain’ and its participants.
